BC Kalev/Cramo managed to lose with a buzzer-beater after leading by 15 points in FIBA Europe Cup against Sofia Lukoil Academic 78:80. Josh Boone who sat out the last quarter scored 16 points, Brandis-Raley Ross 15, Sten Sokk 14, Rolands Freimanis 12 and Marco Killingsworth 10 points. 35 year old veteran Filip Videnov was on fire for the hosts scoring 23 points, making 5 three-pointers including the game-winner. Zeljko Sakic added 16 points and 12 boards, while Pavlin Ivanov had 15 points.

Kalev won the rebounding battle 40:28 (offensive rebounds 11:5) and shot a little bit better than their opponents but that wasn’t enough. Kalev/Cramo made 7 more turnovers than Lukoil while only getting 4 points from the free-throw line (against Lukoil 16). Interesting fact, Kalev/Cramo did not make any substitutions in the final quarter. Marco Killingsworth drive put Kalev up 78:77 after which both teams made mistakes and 8 seconds before the end, Kalev who dominated the rebounding battle could not get a defensive rebounds and the hero of the day, Filip Videnov banked in a long-range three with the buzzer.

Kalev/Cramo now has 2 defeats in FIBA Europe Cup and next week will travel to Krasnojarsk to play Jenissei.
