Overtime loss to Turow01-03-2014
After some time Kalev returned to home court to play PGE Turow in the VTB League game. Unfortuntaly Kalev had to face another loss. Game went to overtime, where Turow was better and won the game 90:97.
After an amazing win in November over Unics, Kalev has lost 9 consecutive games in VTB League. 2 wins and 12 losses give Kalev last place in the group A.
Kalev established seemingly solid 10 point lead by the mid-4th quarter, but that was not enough. This lead vanished with the 11:0 run by Turow made within 2 and a half minutes.
11 seconds before the end of the 4th quarter Curtis Millage tied the game 83:83. Damian Kulig from Turow turned the ball over and Kalev had the ball for the last possession. Millage’s shot got blocked and overtime was reality.
Gregor Arbet made his free-throws and put Kalev up 88:87, but after that Kalev missed next five shots and Turow made 10:2 run. Turow won the game 97:90
Damian Kulig, who scored 26 points, had his best VTB League game this season. John Prince added 21 points. Vlad Moldoveanu had 18, Frank Elegar 15 and Tanel Sokk 14 points for Kalev.
Turow’s head coach said that there is some fairness in life. „ Last season we lost 2 times to Kalev, this season our luck turned. Maybe we little bit underestimated Kalev, because we knew that their leading scorer Ty Abbott will not play. “
Alar Varrak admitted that Kalev already had the game, but unfortunate injuries caused the loss of rhythm. „ When Elegar dropped out, that was a major loss for us, but when Tanel also had to sit out, that was too much for us. I truly feel bad that we couldn’t win this game, we couldn’t finish as we planned to. “
