KALEV/CRAMO – RAPLA 1:015-05-2017

Yearly top event of Estonian basketball – Alexela Basketball League final is here but with an interesting twist! BC Kalev/Cramo faces Rapla, the only team Kalev finished with losing more games than winning against. It’s Varrak versus Kuusmaa ( two coaches with three Estonian titles). Capital of Estonia vs capital of basketball in Estonia!

The game was worthy of its name – great dunks, huge blocks, all out fighting spirit from both teams but most importantly, Kalev/Cramo got the win! Kalev had not won against Rapla with such a big margin 72:52 in a while, two years to be exact (not counting the cup games).

Although before the game the opinions divided both ways before the game the game proved they were’nt that off. Rapla started great and dominated in the first half and held Kalev to only 30 points in 20 minutes but the game lasts for 40 minutes and Kalev/Cramo got out blazing in the second half. In half-way point of the third quarter, Kalev went on a 16:1 run and took a comfortable 54:41 lead going in to the fourth.

Made three by Sven Kaldre cut the lead down to 8 and there was almost tension in the until Branko Mirkovic made 2 threes in a row and started another 11:1 run! Cedric Simmons finished with 14 points and 10 boards, Mirkovic added 14 points and 5 assists with Sten Sokk having a nice all-around game – 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. For Rapla, Kaldre led the way with 11, Suarez and Bratoz both finished with 10 points.
