Kalev/Cramo lost to Rytas16-12-2013
Kalev/Cramo’s hope to give a „Christmas present“ to visitors from Lithuania did not come true, when Rytas won VTB game on Sunday evening. Famous opponent made an 11:2 run in the second quarter and kept the lead until the end of the game. Final score 76:68 marked 7th win for Rytas and 6th loss for Kalev.
Kalev’s top performer was Devin Gibson, who had 17 points and 6 rebounds (his season personal best). Frank Elegar added 13 points and 9 rebounds, Ty Abbot 12, Vlad Moldoveanu 9 and Tanel Sokk 8 points. Rain Veideman missed the game due to injury.
Stevan Jelovac scored 23 points for Rytas. Renaldas Seibutis had 17 points. Kalev lost the rebounding battle 31:38 ( until yesterday’s game Kalev was leading VTB in total rebounds and in offensive rebounds!), made 21 points from free-throws compare to opponents 10, but shooting % was not good – only 19/49.
Kalev started off very good – most of the first quarter Kalev was up by point or two, Gibson and Fall kept the game going for Kalev, but in the second quarter Rytas made 11:2 run, which put them up 33:25. Kalev managed to decrease the gap, but for the half-time score showed 5 point lead for Rytas – 33:38
During the 3rd quarter interesting game continued – Rytas was already leading by 10, but Abbott, Gibson and Elegar brought Kalev back to only 3 point difference (45:48). But again, Rytas made 9:0 run, leading at that point already by 12.
Kalev wasn’t beaten yet – Sokk and Moldoveanu both scored to set the score 55:60, then it was time for Jelovac to shine – he made 8 points during a minute and a half helping his team to win 76:68.
