Alexela Basketball league regular season is in its final stretch and tonight Kalev/Cramo secured their first place of the regular season when they beat TÜ/Rock at Tartu 83:71 (35:37). The deciding moments of the game happened in the third quarter during the last three minutes when Rock was leading with one and Janar Talts went to the bench. Latvian Rolands Freimanis went on a roll and made 4 straight shots while taking Kalev to a 10:0 run. At the start of the fourth Kalev made another 10:0 run this time thanks to Sten Sokk’s two threes and the lead was already 19 points. Despite closing the gap, Rock did not managed to get closer than 9 points.
Freimanis finished with 17 points and 9 boards, all of his points game in the second half. Curry added 14, King 10, Veideman 9, Sokk and Dorbek 8 points. Evaldas Žabas had 21 for Rock with Gert Dorbek helping him with 18 and Janar Talts 13 points. Kalev made their 49% of their shots including 4/7 from the deep in the last quarter. The rebounding game went to Kalev 34:31, who also made less turnovers 11:14. The only problem for Kalev today was making their free-throws (7/14 against 17/18).
Kalev is now 4:0 against Rock including the cup finals and will hold a home-court advantage during all the series in play-offs.
