Kalev surrendered to Lokomotiv03-03-2014
In the VTB League’s game Kalev played against Euroleague’s top club Lokomotiv-Kuban. Due to injuries Kalev missed two starters – Ty Abbott and Frank Elegar. After competive game Kalev had to face a loss to more powerful and stronger team 67:78. Kalev’s best scorer was Bamba Fall with 21 points. Indrek Kajupank and Kristjan Kitsing both had a solid game – they contributed 13 and 10 points accordinlgy. Gregor Arbet also had 10 points. Tanel Sokk, who suffers from showlder injury, tossed out 8 assists. On Russians powercub side best scorers were Marcus Williams with 15 and Richard Hendrix with 14 points.
Alar Varrak said after the game, that players fought well, but they missed too many open shots. „ We can’t have that luxury in the VTB league that we miss that many shots and still be in the game against such strong club like Lokomotiv. But I have to give credit to all the players, and hopefully we can have a game where all players contribute to the level they are capable of.
Jevgeni Pashutin said they needed this win badly considering their standing. „ We were ready and well prepared for this game; even though I know for main players it must have been emotionally difficult to come out tonight, after the tough loss to CSKA few nights ago. I have respect for Estonian basketball; you have had many great players like Müürseppp, Kuusmaa, etc. I hope you will have new rising starts in Estonian basketball soon. “
