Himki wins in Tallinn20-02-2013


Kalev/Cramo won the first half against Himki by seven points, but it wasn’t enough to win the whole game. Himki got a win with 65:57 in Tallinn on 18.02 VTB League game.
Kalev lost the fisrt quarter 16:40, but second quarter belonged to hosts – Kalev let Himki score only 4 points and for the halftime Kalev was leading 46:41.
After the break Himki players came out better than Kalev did, and were leading in second half mainly by 6-7 points. Kalev had a chance 2 minutes before the end when after Skele’s basket Kalev was down only by 2. But from this point on, only Himki scored and finised the game with the 6:0 scoring run.
Kalev/Cramo’s best player for the game was Armands Skele who had 20 points and 8 rebounds, for Himki Zoran Planinic scored 12 points and took 6 rebounds.
After the game Himki head coach Rimas Kurtinaitis said that they came here after win and they got it. He mentioned that they tried to play more with the players that don’t get lot of minutes in Euroleague, but as the game went on he still had to play his main players. Head coach pointed out Armands Skele, who had an outstanding game.
Kalev/Cramo head coach Alar Varrak said that Kalev missed little bit of everything at the end – luck, three-pointer, couple of free throws…and that to beat team like Himki you need little bit of luck too. Varrak was pleased with the 5 on 5 defence from Kalev side, however he pointed out easy turnovers and low 3-point %.

Standing in VTB United league for Kalev got worse when Turow surprisingly beat Rytas and moved ahead of Kalev. Three wins and 12 loses gives Kalev next to last standing in the group.
Next game in VTB United League for Kalev will be on 4.03.2013 at home against Azovmash.
