Heroic win from Astana06-02-2017

BC Kalev/Cramo got a great victory in Astanas 78:72 (46:31) against local Astana BK and rose to the 11th spot in VTB league table. For Kalev its only their second win against Astana and first in Kazakhstan. Astana who are in the last play-off spots has two more wins than Kalev, but games against Nižni and Krasnojarsk may help us catch them.
Rain Veideamn has been on fire lately with 24 points in todays game (3/6 from deep), Tollefsen 12 and both Harper and Sokk with 10. Kalev/Cramo had a nice shooting game making 10 of 23 from the three while the hosts struggled making only 6 of 29. Better shooting day compensated small defeats in other categories (rebounding 43:46, second chance points 19:8, turnovers 15:9).
Kalev had a great 16:2 run in the first quarter and took a 26:13 lead but started the second quarter scoreless for 2 minutes but thanks to a made three from Sokk, the visitors got rolling. After a comfortable lead in the first half, the hosts started making better decisions and shots which led to a 16:5 run in three and a half minutes closing the gap to 5 but Kalev responded nicely and led 58:49 before the fourth quarter. The hosts tried and tried and tried but could not get closer than 6 points, a great victory especially without Arbet nor Liutych.
Kalev/Cramo will face TTÜ in Baltic League on the 8th of February.
