Firm loss at Kazan09-12-2015


Kazan and their team UNICS which thanks to our assistant coach Martin Müürsepp won the Fiba Europe League a while ago wasn’t merciful today and handed out a loss to the visiting Kalev/Cramo 75:96 (26:54). The game was basically decided in the first quarter and the second half was just finishing the game.

Kalev lost the rebounding battle 34:40 (offensive rebounds 11:9), both teams had 8 turnovers, but the main difference were the shooting percentages – UNICS made 52% of their shots while Kalev 42%. UNICS now has 8 wins and 2 losses, Kalev/Cramo 3 wins and 6 losses. Kalev/Cramo will face Astana in Kazahstan on wednesday in VTB.

Keith Langford had 17 points for UNICS, Vladimir Panin and Arturas Milaknis added 14 points, Mario Banic and Artjom Parahouski 13, their point guard Joaquim Colom didn’t score but had 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Rolands Freimanis had a good shooting game with 24 points and 8 rebounds, while Josh Boone had 22 points and 13 rebounds, guard Martin Dorbek had 8 assists and 7 points.

Marco Killingsworth who is leaving the team and heading to Israel did not play today, while Rain Veideman injured his knee and played less than 5 minutes.
