VTB and Euroleague powerhouse Lokomotive Kuban was hoping for an easy game against visiting BC Kalev/Cramo but got away with a scare. BC Kalev showed great game and spirit during three quarters and in the end but at the start of the fourth quarter the hosts managed to go on a 15:0 run which Kalev could not come back, so Lokomotiv won 71:67 (29:32) and got their 18th win of the season. Kalev got their 17th loss to go with their 7 wins. Interestingly it was the first time that Kalev managed to keep the game tight against the hosts, losing all of their previous games by doubl-digits.
Shawn King continued his double-double run in VTB with 17 points and 15 rebounds, he was supported by Freimanis with 14, Veideman with 10 and both Arbet and Soo with 8 points. Morris Curry did not play due to injury. For the hosts, Victor Claver had 16 and Ryan Broekhoff 14 points. After a time-out where coach Georgios Bartzokas gave a harsh speech to his players the Australian Broekhoff got hot and made 3 threes.
Lokomotive managed to shoot around 37% but got a lot of second chances with 17 offensive rebounds against Kalev’s 6. Points off turnovers were also one sided, Lokomotive had 15 against Kalev’s 7. Despite not shooting great from the three (6/26) Kalev managed to get more points in the paint (36:24).
