Elegar helps Zenit to a win23-02-2017

BC Kalev/Cramo lost another home-game in VTB against visitors Krasnojarsk Jenissey 82:91 (42:40). Bad shooting from inside the three point area (19/43 so 44%) and demolishing defeat in rebounding category (29:52, offensive rebounds 5:17) were one of the keys to Jenisseys win with them scoring half of their threes (14/28).
Vassili Zavorujev was on fire making 6 of his 8 threes and finished with 22 points, which is his season high. Ex-Kalev player Frank Elegar had a massive double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Despite being on the opposite team, after the game Elegar did not hide his emotions, thanking the crowd and saying that it was unreal to play in Saku Suurhall against BC Kalev/Cramo. For the hosts Vitaly Liutych scored a career high 30 points in VTB league while Tollefsen added 14, Veidemand 13 and Harper 12 points.
After winning the first half 46:40 Kalev started the second half on the bad side of a 10:0 run, despite all their efforts Kalev couldn’t regain the lead. At the press conference, coach Varrak had to admit that their play-off chances are only theoretical and now they need to just fight for their honor game by game. He added that problems with their rebounding have been an issue all-season long, maybe it was because the team was getting used to having a great rebounder like Elegar and Boone but this season they haven’t found a player like that.
Kalev/Cramo will now host TTÜ on Wednesday in Baltic League and on the 7th they’ll face Unics in VTB.
