BC KALEV/CRAMO – RAPLA 3:0!19-05-2017

Alexela Basketball League is almost finished for this season, only one or a few more games left as BC Kalev/Cramo took a 77:74 win in game three in the infamous Sadolini Spordihoone and is one win away from the title. Brano Mirkovic led the way for Kalev scoring game-high 27 points! Sten Sokk added a great game off the bench with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Despite shooting similary the key of the game ended up being turnovers as Kalev had 11 and Rapla 19 from which 6 happened in the final quarter.

After having a lead the whole game, it seemed like Rapla was the favourite in this game but some small moments showed why Kalev had a 2-0 lead, executing when it matters. Rapla won the first quarter 20:13 with Kalev shooting dreadfully from the field (21%). Things didn’t change in the second quarter when Rapla took a quick 11 point lead, but Kalev slowly got their game going and managed to get back into the game but Suarez responded with a long range buzzer to get the lead back up to 38:33 in the half.

The cat and mouse game went on in the second half, when Kalev climbed back Rapla went on a small run and so on. Going into the fourth quarter, Rapla led 53:51, now the stakes were high, either going down 0-3 or getting back in the series with a 1-2 deficit. The last ten minutes were intense as teams changed basket after basket but dynamic duo Sten Sokk and Branko Mirkovic led Kalev, as Sokk scored 7 points in a row for the visitors. Rapla answered back everytime and from 60:60, Mirkovic took over, scoring again 7 points in a row but still nothing, game tied 67:67 with four minutes to go. After a few turnovers from the hosts, Kalev took a four point lead but Rapla did not back down as Paasoja and Kajupank tied the score 71:71 and a minute to go. After a quick shot by Suarez from an inbound play, Vitaly Liutych managed to sneak off and get a very easy fast break, Kalev up by 2. Rapla tried to find a solution but Bratož made a turnover after which Mirkovic was sent on the line and after making those Kaldre responded with a  long three and a slim chance of evening the game. But Kalev was on point on the free-throw line again and despite having four seconds to take a three and tie the game, Rapla wasn’t able to get a good shot of. A great game and a better result!
