Rakvere Tarvas/Palmse Metall
Kalev/Cramo got a sweet victory in Alexela Basketball League when they hosted their biggest rival Tartu Ülikool/Rock, the third win against them this season ended 83:75 (44:40).
Rolands Freimanis had another great game with 26 points and 8 rebounds, whilst Morris Curry added 13 points nad 5 assists. Mario Delaš had 13 points and 8 boards with Rain Veideman scoring 12 points for Kalev. Brian Harper was on fire for Rock, he had 20 points in the first half but slowed down in the second and finished with 28 points. Tanel Sokk added 14 and Evaldas Žabas 12 points. Janar Talts, who usually plays great against Kalev struggled today, only making 3 of his 12 shots, but on the bright side he managed to grab game-high 9 rebounds. Do no surprise Kalev lost the rebounding game 36:38 (offensive rebounds 5:11) but managed to make less turnovers and shoot better in every category.
Tartu was missing Tanel Kurbas, Timo Eichfuss and Marek Doronin today while Kalev had to play without Janar Soo and Sten Olmre. For the first time, the crowd got a glimpse of Shawn King who warmed up but did not play.
Kalev/Cramo is still undefeated in the Estonian league, while Rock chases them with 18 wins and 4 losses. The next Estonian derby will be on 25th of february in Tartu.
Coach Varrak was understandably happy with the win, but the most important thing for him today was the arrival of Shawn King, who should be a big help in getting our defense back in order and a huge boost for rebounding.
